Green Bank Telescope
The Green Bank Telescope (GBT) is a large radio telescope located in Green Bank, West Virginia. It is the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope, measuring 100 meters in diameter. The GBT is used to study various astronomical phenomena, including pulsars, galaxies, and cosmic microwave background radiation.
Constructed in 2000, the GBT is part of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and plays a crucial role in radio astronomy. Its advanced technology allows scientists to observe celestial objects in different frequencies, contributing to our understanding of the universe and aiding in the search for extraterrestrial life.
