Greco-Buddhism
Greco-Buddhism is a cultural and artistic synthesis that emerged in the regions of Central Asia during the Hellenistic period, particularly after the conquests of Alexander the Great. It represents the blending of Greek and Buddhist ideas, art, and practices, as Greek culture interacted with the Buddhist traditions of the Indian subcontinent.
This fusion is most notably seen in the art of the Gandhara region, where sculptures and reliefs depict Buddha in a style influenced by Greek aesthetics. Greco-Buddhism played a significant role in the spread of Buddhism into Central Asia and eventually to China and beyond, facilitating cross-cultural exchanges.
