Gandhara
Gandhara was an ancient region located in what is now northern Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. It flourished from the 6th century BCE to the 11th century CE and was known for its rich cultural and artistic heritage. The area was a significant center for trade and the spread of ideas, particularly during the time of the Silk Road.
The art of Gandhara is particularly famous for its unique blend of Indian and Hellenistic influences, evident in its sculptures and architecture. The region is also notable for its role in the development of Buddhism, as it produced many important Buddhist texts and artifacts, including the iconic Gandharan Buddha statues.
