Greater Sand Plover
The Greater Sand Plover is a medium-sized shorebird found in coastal regions across Africa, Asia, and Australia. It has a distinctive appearance with a short, stout bill and a rounded body. The plumage is generally sandy brown, which helps it blend into its beach habitat, making it less visible to predators.
These plovers are known for their migratory behavior, traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds. They primarily feed on small invertebrates found in the sand and mud along shorelines. The Greater Sand Plover is often seen in flocks, especially during migration periods, and is an important species for coastal ecosystems.
