Great Train Robbery
The Great Train Robbery occurred on August 8, 1963, in England, when a gang of robbers intercepted a Royal Mail train. They used a fake signal to stop the train and then overpowered the crew. The robbers made off with £2.6 million, equivalent to about £53 million today, in cash and valuables.
The heist was meticulously planned, involving detailed reconnaissance and the use of a modified vehicle to transport the stolen money. Eventually, most of the robbers were caught, and many received lengthy prison sentences. The event remains one of the most famous robberies in British history.
