Great Library of Alexandria
The Great Library of Alexandria was an ancient center of learning located in Alexandria, Egypt. Founded in the 3rd century BCE, it aimed to collect all the world's knowledge and housed thousands of scrolls covering various subjects, including literature, science, and philosophy. Scholars from different cultures came to study and share their ideas, making it a hub of intellectual activity.
The library was part of a larger complex known as the Museum of Alexandria, which included research facilities and living quarters for scholars. Despite its significance, the library faced several destructions over the centuries, leading to the loss of many invaluable texts and knowledge.
