Gravure
Gravure is a printing process that uses an engraved cylinder to transfer ink onto a surface, typically paper. This technique is known for producing high-quality images and vibrant colors, making it popular for printing magazines, packaging, and labels. The engraved areas hold the ink, while the non-engraved areas remain blank, allowing for precise and detailed prints.
The gravure process involves several steps, including cylinder preparation, inking, and printing. The engraved cylinder rotates through an ink fountain, where the ink fills the engraved cells. A doctor blade then removes excess ink, ensuring only the ink in the cells is transferred to the substrate, resulting in a clean and sharp image.
