Grauer's gorillas
Grauer's gorillas, also known as eastern lowland gorillas, are a subspecies of gorilla found primarily in the dense forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are the largest of all gorilla subspecies, characterized by their robust bodies and long arms. These gorillas primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and stems, playing a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds.
Sadly, Grauer's gorillas are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest in their native region. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their habitats and reduce human-wildlife conflict, but their population continues to decline, making their future uncertain.
