Grand Fleet
The Grand Fleet was the main naval force of the British Royal Navy during World War I. It was established in 1914 and primarily operated in the North Sea, aiming to protect British shipping and maintain naval supremacy against the German Imperial Navy. The fleet was commanded by Admiral John Jellicoe and included numerous battleships, cruisers, and destroyers.
The most significant engagement involving the Grand Fleet was the Battle of Jutland in 1916, where it faced the German High Seas Fleet. Although the battle was tactically inconclusive, the Grand Fleet's ability to maintain control of the North Sea was crucial for the Allies throughout the war.
