Grace O'Malley
Grace O'Malley, also known as GrĂ¡inne Mhaol, was a 16th-century Irish pirate and chieftain. Born around 1530 in Connacht, she was the daughter of the chieftain of the O'Malley clan. Grace became known for her seafaring skills and leadership, commanding a fleet of ships and engaging in piracy along the Irish Sea.
O'Malley was a fierce defender of her territory against English rule during a time of political upheaval in Ireland. She famously met with Queen Elizabeth I to negotiate terms for her family's lands and rights. Grace O'Malley's legacy endures as a symbol of resistance and independence in Irish history.
