Gosaikunda
Gosaikunda is a sacred alpine lake located in the Langtang National Park of Nepal. Situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters, it is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, who believe that the lake was created by the god Shiva. The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush landscapes.
The lake is accessible through various trekking routes, with the most popular being the Gosaikunda Trek. This trek offers breathtaking views and a chance to experience the rich culture of the local Tamang and Sherpa communities. Each year, thousands of pilgrims visit Gosaikunda, especially during the festival of Janai Purnima.
