Gorilla beringei graueri
Gorilla beringei graueri, commonly known as the Eastern Lowland Gorilla, is a subspecies of the Eastern Gorilla. They are primarily found in the dense forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These gorillas are the largest of all gorilla subspecies, with males weighing up to 450 pounds.
Eastern Lowland Gorillas are herbivorous, feeding on leaves, fruits, and stems. They live in groups called troops, typically led by a dominant male known as a silverback. Their population is threatened due to habitat loss and poaching, making conservation efforts crucial for their survival.
