Gokyo
Gokyo is a small village located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, near the famous Everest mountain range. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 4,790 meters (15,700 feet) and serves as a popular stop for trekkers on the Gokyo Lakes Trek. The village is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Cho Oyu and Makalu.
The main attraction of Gokyo is the series of glacial lakes, known as the Gokyo Lakes, which are among the highest in the world. These lakes are renowned for their vibrant turquoise color and are considered sacred by local Sherpa communities. Gokyo also features the Gokyo Ri viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas.
