Gnu
The gnu, also known as the wildebeest, is a large herbivorous mammal found in the grasslands and savannas of Africa. It belongs to the family Bovidae and is characterized by its robust body, curved horns, and distinctive beard. There are two main species: the black wildebeest and the blue wildebeest, both of which play a crucial role in their ecosystems by grazing on grasses.
Gnus are known for their impressive migrations, often traveling in large herds in search of food and water. These migrations are part of the annual cycle of the Great Migration, which also includes other animals like zebras and gazelles. Gnus are social animals, typically found in groups, which helps protect them from predators such as lions and hyenas.
