Gjergj Kastrioti
Gjergj Kastrioti, commonly known as Skanderbeg, was a 15th-century Albanian nobleman and military commander. Born in 1405, he is celebrated for leading a rebellion against the Ottoman Empire and defending his homeland, Albania, for over two decades. His strategic prowess and leadership earned him a reputation as a national hero.
Skanderbeg was initially taken as a hostage by the Ottomans, where he received military training. After escaping, he returned to Albania and united various principalities against the Ottomans. His legacy continues to inspire Albanian nationalism and is commemorated in various cultural works and monuments.
