Giuseppe Garibaldi
Giuseppe Garibaldi was an Italian general and nationalist who played a key role in the unification of Italy in the 19th century. Born on July 4, 1807, in Nice, he became known for his military campaigns and leadership in the fight for Italian independence from foreign rule. His most famous campaign was the Expedition of the Thousand in 1860, where he led a volunteer army to conquer the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
Garibaldi is often referred to as the "Hero of Two Worlds" because of his involvement in revolutionary movements in both Italy and South America. He was a strong advocate for democracy and social justice, and his efforts significantly contributed to the establishment of a unified Italy in 1861. Garibaldi remains a celebrated figure in Italian history.
