Giovanni delle Bande Nere
Giovanni delle Bande Nere, born in 1498, was an Italian condottiero, or mercenary leader, known for his military prowess during the Italian Wars. He was the son of Ludovico il Moro and Caterina Sforza, and he gained fame for his fierce tactics and loyalty to the Medici family. His nickname, which translates to "Giovanni of the Black Bands," came from the black bands worn by his troops.
Delle Bande Nere played a significant role in various battles, including the defense of Florence against the forces of Charles V. He was known for his innovative use of artillery and cavalry. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he died in 1526 from wounds sustained in battle, leaving a legacy as one of the most notable military leaders of his time.
