Giovanni Battista Amici
Giovanni Battista Amici was an Italian astronomer and optician born on June 25, 1786, in Modena, Italy. He is best known for his work in improving telescopes and microscopes, which significantly advanced the field of optics. Amici developed the Amici prism, a device that enhances the quality of images in optical instruments.
In addition to his contributions to optics, Amici made important observations of celestial bodies, including the planet Mars and the moon. His meticulous studies and innovations earned him recognition in the scientific community, and he became a member of several prestigious academies throughout Europe. Amici passed away on April 10, 1863.
