Giganotosaurus
Giganotosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, around 98 million years ago. It was discovered in what is now Argentina and is known for its massive size, reaching lengths of up to 40 feet (12 meters). This dinosaur had a large skull with sharp teeth, making it a formidable predator of its time.
Despite its size, Giganotosaurus was not the largest dinosaur; that title is often attributed to Spinosaurus or Tyrannosaurus rex. It belonged to the theropod group, which includes other well-known dinosaurs. Fossils of Giganotosaurus provide valuable insights into the diversity of prehistoric life in South America.
