Carcharodontosaurus
Carcharodontosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, around 100 million years ago. It was primarily found in what is now Africa and is known for its massive size, reaching lengths of up to 40 feet. This dinosaur had sharp teeth and a powerful jaw, making it an effective predator.
Carcharodontosaurus belonged to the group of theropods, which includes other well-known dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus rex and Allosaurus. Its name means "shark-toothed lizard," reflecting its serrated teeth that resembled those of sharks. Fossils of Carcharodontosaurus have provided valuable insights into the diversity of large predators during the Cretaceous period.
