Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola
Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (1507-1573) was an influential Italian architect and designer, known for his significant contributions to the Mannerist style of architecture. He is best recognized for his work on the Villa Farnese in Caprarola and the Church of the Gesù in Rome, which became a model for many Jesuit churches.
Vignola also authored the famous architectural treatise, Regola delli cinque ordini d'architettura, which outlined the five classical orders of architecture. His designs emphasized symmetry and proportion, influencing generations of architects and shaping the development of Renaissance architecture in Italy and beyond.
