Church of the Gesù
The Church of the Gesù is a prominent Roman Catholic church located in Rome, Italy. It serves as the mother church of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. Built in the 16th century, it is renowned for its Baroque architecture and stunning interior, which features elaborate frescoes and intricate decorations.
The church was designed by the architect Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola and completed in 1584. Its facade is characterized by a grand entrance and a large central window, while the interior includes the famous ceiling fresco by Giovanni Battista Gaulli, known as "Il Baciccio."
