Gharanas
Gharanas are traditional schools or styles of music, particularly in Indian classical music. Each gharana has its own unique characteristics, techniques, and interpretations, often passed down through generations. They are associated with specific regions or prominent musicians, and they emphasize different aspects of performance, such as rhythm, melody, and emotional expression.
In Hindustani classical music, there are several well-known gharanas, including the Gwalior, Kirana, and Jaipur-Atrauli gharanas. Each gharana contributes to the rich diversity of Indian music, allowing artists to express their individuality while adhering to the foundational principles of their respective styles.
