Gerry Conlon
Gerry Conlon was an Irish man born in 1954 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He became widely known for being wrongfully convicted in the 1970s for the Guildford pub bombings, a series of attacks carried out by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA). Conlon spent 15 years in prison before his conviction was overturned in 1991 due to police misconduct and the discovery of new evidence.
After his release, Conlon became an advocate for justice and spoke out against wrongful convictions. His story was depicted in the film In the Name of the Father, which highlighted the injustices he faced and the impact of the British legal system on innocent lives.
