Guildford pub bombings
The Guildford pub bombings occurred on October 5, 1974, when the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) detonated bombs in two pubs in Guildford, England. The attacks targeted the Horse and Groom and The Seven Stars, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to many others.
In the aftermath, the British authorities arrested several individuals, leading to controversial convictions. In 1976, the convictions of the Guildford Four, who were wrongfully imprisoned for the bombings, were eventually quashed, highlighting issues of justice and police conduct during the conflict in Northern Ireland.
