Georgi Benkovski
Georgi Benkovski was a prominent Bulgarian revolutionary leader during the April Uprising of 1876, which aimed to liberate Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. Born in 1843 in the town of Koprivshtitsa, he became known for his dedication to the cause of Bulgarian independence and his efforts to organize uprisings against the Ottoman Empire.
Benkovski played a crucial role in the uprising by leading a group of rebels in the Plovdiv region. His leadership and bravery inspired many, and he is remembered as a national hero in Bulgaria. Unfortunately, he was killed in battle, but his legacy continues to influence Bulgarian nationalism.
