George Syncellus
George Syncellus was a Byzantine monk and historian who lived during the 8th century. He is best known for his work, the "Chronicon," which provides a chronological account of history from the creation of the world to his own time. His writings are significant for their detailed records of events and figures in both biblical and secular history.
Syncellus served as a synkellos, or assistant, to the Patriarch of Constantinople, which gave him access to various historical sources. His work is valuable for understanding the historical context of the Byzantine Empire and the early Christian church, as it combines both religious and secular narratives.
