George Read
George Read was an American lawyer and politician who played a significant role in the early history of the United States. Born on September 18, 1733, in Maryland, he became a prominent figure in the Continental Congress and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Read also served as the first president of the Delaware state senate.
In addition to his contributions to independence, George Read was a strong advocate for the U.S. Constitution. He participated in the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and helped shape the framework of the new government. Read passed away on September 21, 1798, leaving a legacy as a key founding figure.
