George FitzRoy, 3rd Duke of Grafton
George FitzRoy, 3rd Duke of Grafton (1735-1811), was a British nobleman and politician. He was born into the House of FitzRoy, a prominent family, and became the Duke in 1811 after the death of his father. Grafton served as the Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1768 to 1770, during a time of significant political turmoil and colonial unrest.
As Prime Minister, Grafton faced challenges such as the growing tensions with the American colonies, which would eventually lead to the American Revolutionary War. His leadership was marked by a struggle to maintain support within Parliament, and he resigned after just two years in office. Grafton continued to be active in politics until his retirement.
