George FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Grafton
George FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Grafton (1735-1811), was a British nobleman and politician. He was born to Charles FitzRoy, 2nd Duke of Grafton and Mary FitzRoy. Grafton served as the Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1768 to 1770, during a time marked by political turmoil and colonial unrest.
As a member of the Whig Party, Grafton played a significant role in the government, although his tenure was short-lived. He was known for his efforts to manage the growing tensions with the American colonies, which eventually led to the American Revolutionary War. After resigning as Prime Minister, he continued to serve in various political roles until his retirement.
