George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert
George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, known as the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, was a British aristocrat born on June 26, 1866. He is best known for his role in the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922, alongside the archaeologist Howard Carter. His wealth and interest in Egyptology enabled him to fund the excavation that led to this significant archaeological find.
The 5th Earl of Carnarvon was also a prominent figure in the early 20th century, known for his lavish lifestyle and connections to the British elite. He passed away on April 5, 1923, shortly after the tomb's discovery, which sparked numerous legends about a "curse" associated with the tomb.
