George Buchanan
George Buchanan was a Scottish humanist, poet, and historian born in 1506. He is best known for his contributions to literature and education during the Renaissance period. Buchanan was a prominent figure in the Reformation and served as a tutor to Mary, Queen of Scots. His works often reflected his deep knowledge of classical literature and philosophy.
In addition to his literary achievements, Buchanan was also involved in politics and was a vocal critic of the monarchy. He wrote several important texts, including a history of Scotland and a Latin play titled "Jephthah." Buchanan's influence extended beyond his lifetime, shaping Scottish thought and education.
