Geographic Combatant Command
A Geographic Combatant Command (GCC) is a major organizational unit within the United States Department of Defense responsible for military operations in a specific geographic area. Each GCC oversees the planning and execution of military strategies, ensuring readiness and coordination among various branches of the military.
There are six primary GCCs, each focusing on different regions of the world, such as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) for the Middle East and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) for the Asia-Pacific region. These commands play a crucial role in national security and international relations by managing military resources and responding to regional crises.
