Gentoo penguin
The Gentoo penguin is a medium-sized penguin species known for its distinctive white stripe across its head and bright orange beak. They typically weigh between 5.5 to 18.5 pounds and stand about 28 to 30 inches tall. Gentoo penguins are primarily found on sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, where they thrive in cold environments.
These penguins are excellent swimmers, capable of reaching speeds up to 22 miles per hour in the water. They primarily feed on krill, fish, and other marine organisms. Gentoo penguins are social birds, often nesting in large colonies, and they are known for their strong parental care, with both parents sharing responsibilities in raising their chicks.
