The Chinstrap Penguin is a medium-sized penguin species known for its distinctive black band under its head, resembling a chinstrap. They primarily inhabit the sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. These penguins are excellent swimmers, using their wings as flippers to navigate through the water in search of fish and krill.
Chinstrap Penguins are social birds, often found in large colonies that can number in the thousands. They breed during the Antarctic summer, building nests from pebbles and laying two eggs. Both parents share the responsibility of incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks once they hatch.
