General National Congress
The General National Congress (GNC) was the legislative body of Libya established in 2012 following the end of the civil war that ousted former leader Muammar Gaddafi. It was formed to oversee the transition to a democratic government and to draft a new constitution. The GNC was composed of 200 members elected by the Libyan people.
The GNC faced numerous challenges, including political divisions and security issues, which hindered its effectiveness. In 2014, it was replaced by the House of Representatives after a controversial election, leading to further political instability in Libya.
