General Fred Akuffo
General Fred Akuffo was a prominent Ghanaian military officer and politician. He served as the Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and played a significant role in the country's military history. Akuffo was a key figure during the 1970s and was involved in the military coup that brought General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong to power.
In 1978, Akuffo became the head of state after leading another coup against Acheampong. His government focused on economic reforms and national development. However, his rule faced challenges, leading to his overthrow in 1979 by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council. Akuffo was later executed in 1979.
