Gannet
The gannet is a large seabird known for its striking white plumage and long wingspan, which can reach up to 6.5 feet. These birds are excellent divers, plunging into the ocean at high speeds to catch fish, their primary food source. Gannets are often found in colonies on coastal cliffs and islands, where they nest in large numbers.
There are three species of gannets: the Northern gannet, the Cape gannet, and the Australasian gannet. They are part of the family Sulidae and are recognized for their distinctive sharp bills and blue eyes. Gannets are also known for their elaborate courtship displays during the breeding season.
