Ganden Monastery
Ganden Monastery is one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, located in the Lhasa region of Tibet. Founded in 1409 by the famous monk Tsongkhapa, it serves as the main seat of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is known for its stunning architecture and beautiful surroundings, perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley.
The monastery was historically significant as a center for learning and spiritual practice. It housed thousands of monks and was a hub for philosophical debate and teachings. Although it was largely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s, restoration efforts have helped preserve its cultural heritage.
