Gamma Cephei System
The Gamma Cephei System is a binary star system located approximately 45 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. It consists of two stars: Gamma Cephei A, a K-type giant star, and Gamma Cephei B, a smaller M-type dwarf star. The two stars orbit each other with a period of about 60 years.
Gamma Cephei A is notable for having a confirmed exoplanet, designated Gamma Cephei Ab. This planet is classified as a gas giant and orbits its host star at a distance similar to that of Jupiter from the Sun. The system is of interest to astronomers studying stellar evolution and planetary formation.
