Gadri
Gadri refers to a historical movement that emerged in the early 20th century, primarily among the Indian diaspora in North America and Europe. It aimed to liberate India from British colonial rule through armed struggle. The movement was characterized by the efforts of the Ghadar Party, which was formed by Indian immigrants, particularly Punjabis, who sought to inspire a revolution against British authorities.
The term "Gadri" is derived from the word "Ghadar," meaning rebellion or revolt in Urdu and Hindi. The movement gained momentum after the outbreak of World War I, as many members believed that the war presented an opportunity to challenge British power. Despite its eventual decline, the Gadri movement played a significant role in inspiring future generations of Indian nationalists.
