Gabriela Silang
Gabriela Silang was a prominent figure in Philippine history, known for her role as a revolutionary leader during the Spanish colonial period. Born in 1731 in Ilocos Sur, she became the first female leader of a major uprising against Spanish rule after the death of her husband, Diego Silang, who was also a revolutionary leader.
Silang led her own army and fought for the rights and freedom of her people. Her bravery and determination made her a symbol of resistance and empowerment for women in the Philippines. Gabriela was captured and executed in 1763, but her legacy continues to inspire generations.
