Diego Silang
Diego Silang was a Filipino revolutionary leader known for his role in the fight against Spanish colonial rule in the 18th century. Born in 1730 in Ilocos Sur, he initially worked as a trader and later became a prominent figure in the struggle for independence. Silang led a rebellion in 1762, aiming to establish a government free from Spanish control.
Silang's movement gained support from various local communities, but it was short-lived. He was assassinated in 1763, which led to the decline of the rebellion. Despite his early death, Diego Silang is remembered as a symbol of resistance and a national hero in the Philippines.
