Fulk the Red
Fulk the Red, also known as Fulk IV of Anjou, was a prominent nobleman in the 10th and 11th centuries. He was born around 1043 and became the Count of Anjou, a region in present-day France. Fulk was known for his military prowess and played a significant role in the politics of medieval France, often engaging in conflicts to expand his territory.
In addition to his military achievements, Fulk the Red is notable for his marriage to Ermengarde of Anjou, which strengthened his political alliances. He was also the father of Fulk V, who later became King of Jerusalem, further extending the family's influence in both France and the Crusader states.
