Fulk IV of Anjou
Fulk IV of Anjou was a prominent nobleman in the 11th century, known for his role as the Count of Anjou from 1040 until his death in 1109. He was the son of Fulk III of Anjou and Ermengarde of Anjou, and he inherited the title after his father's death. Fulk IV was notable for his military campaigns and efforts to expand his territory, which included conflicts with neighboring regions.
In 1092, Fulk IV became the first Count of Anjou to be recognized as a king when he married Melisende of Jerusalem, the heiress of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This marriage linked the Anjou dynasty to the Crusader states, enhancing Fulk's influence in the region. His legacy continued through his descendants, who played significant roles in the history of both Anjou and the Crusader states.
