Fulk III of Anjou
Fulk III of Anjou, also known as Fulk the Black, was a prominent nobleman in the 11th century. He was born around 970 and became the Count of Anjou in 1040. Fulk was known for his military prowess and played a significant role in the politics of medieval France, expanding his territory through strategic marriages and alliances.
In 1129, Fulk III made a notable decision to become the King of Jerusalem, marrying Melisende, the heiress of the kingdom. His reign in Jerusalem lasted until his death in 1143, during which he worked to strengthen the kingdom and defend it against external threats, particularly from Muslim forces.
