Frogmouth
Frogmouths are unique birds belonging to the family Podargidae, found primarily in tropical and subtropical regions of Australia, Southeast Asia, and New Guinea. They are known for their distinctive appearance, resembling owls with wide, flattened bills and camouflaged plumage that helps them blend into their surroundings.
These nocturnal birds are primarily insectivorous, feeding on insects and small vertebrates. Frogmouths are known for their silent flight and are often seen perched motionless on branches during the day, making them difficult to spot. Their unique nesting behavior involves laying eggs in a shallow depression on a branch, where they rely on their camouflage for protection.
