Potoo
The Potoo is a nocturnal bird found primarily in Central and South America. Known for its camouflaged plumage, it resembles tree bark, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Potoos are part of the family Nyctibiidae and are characterized by their large eyes and wide mouths, which help them catch insects at night.
These birds are mostly silent, but they produce a distinctive call during the breeding season. Potoos are unique in their nesting habits, as they do not build traditional nests; instead, they lay their eggs on a flat surface, often on a tree branch, where they remain well-hidden from predators.
