French Frigate Shoals
French Frigate Shoals is a group of small islands and reefs located in the northwestern part of the Hawaiian Islands. It is part of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, which is known for its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems. The shoals are primarily composed of coral reefs and sand, providing habitat for various marine species.
The area is significant for its ecological importance, serving as a nesting ground for several seabird species and a breeding site for Hawaiian monk seals. The shoals are also a popular destination for researchers and conservationists studying marine life and the effects of climate change on coral reefs.
