Northwestern Hawaiian Islands
The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are a chain of islands and atolls located in the central Pacific Ocean. They are part of the U.S. state of Hawaii and stretch about 1,200 miles northwest of the main Hawaiian Islands. This remote area includes 10 islands, with notable ones being Midway Atoll and Kure Atoll.
These islands are known for their rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems. They are home to many endangered species, including the Hawaiian monk seal and the green sea turtle. The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are protected as part of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, which helps preserve their natural beauty and ecological significance.
